how words shape ideas: "politically motivated shootings"

| | comments (5)

A promo on MSNBC during Keith Olbermann's show last night tried to tease viewers into watching another program on the network because it would be discusssing the "politically motivated shootings" that occurred at that Kansas abortion clinic and the Holocaust museum in Washington DC.

I guess 9/11 was merely a series of politically motivated plane crashes, then.

So much for the "liberal" media: it can't even call terrorism "terrorism."

Oh, silly MaryAnn. Of course they aren't terrorists, they're white! White people can't be terrorists, unless they also happen to hold liberal views and/or are friends with a liberal politician. Duh.
Well, I think it's a little unfair to tar all of the liberal media because of one promo ... especially given that Olbermann and Maddow have been very clear about calling the Tiller shooting an act of terrorism and repeatedly calling for it to be investigated as such.
The media tars itself. Two outliers of progressivism do not a liberal media make.
"White people can't be terrorists, unless they also happen to hold liberal views and/or are friends with a liberal politician." Actually the guy who shot up the Holocaust Museum was a socialist, fervently anti-capitalist, and not only anti-jewish but also anti-christian. And for the record, Bill O'Reilly refered to the Tillman shooter as a terrorist.
"I guess 9/11 was merely a series of politically motivated plane crashes, then." Actually, they were "Man-caused disasters".
