From the novel Nature's End by Whitley Striber and James Kunetka:

[T]he basic problem people suffer from nowadays is passivity brought on by fear. It's a disease and it's destroying us.

The basic problem people suffer from nowadays is stupidity, that the disease that’s destroying us. In no way am I implying that towards you, I really enjoy reading your comments especially on No country for all men. But you must admit when you hear about 60% of high school graduates can't find Canada on a map it is kind of frightening. And higher Ed too. Sometimes I watch Jay Leno, he will do these skits where he has a bunch of college students at their graduation, and he asks them basic questions and no one knows the answers.
That's not necessarily stupidity -- it's ignorance. Fear and ignorance generally go hand in hand.
So when American students take a standardized math & science test, and place 26th. Dead last against other industrialized nations that's fear?
Why don't we educate our students better? Fear. Fear that they'll turn gay if they learn about evolution, or something. Or why do you think our children isn't learning? :->
Well honestly, I don't think its lack of ability. For 1. Their is a real stigmatism against knowledge in this country and way too much emphasis on sports. 2. I believe in evolution, I certainly don't believe that the earth was formed "HAL" 9000 years ago. ;-) 3. As to your insinuation that i'm homophobic, all I keep hearing about every other day is a bunch of HS football players raping other boys in locker rooms with broomstix and pine cones. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0912082newmexico1.html 4. We are all self-taught, people do their own learning & thinking, sure a better education system would be beneficial to all, but the reasons thats not happeing is a much longer convo.
I insinuated you're homophobic?
Well honestly, I don't think its lack of ability.

Isn't that what I said about it not being stupidity but ignorance?

Comical, Well I guess that I was not missing much by not having blogging in my world. I mean I thought on your No Country For Old Men blog that I was having a serious discussion. Until the discussion rendered into the Bruce Lee would kick Antons ass mode. Why not have a blog on godzilla vs. Tranformers. Really sad, you speak of education? All people do their own learning, all people are self taught. You have an impressive list of movies on your favorites list nice to see Terminator 2 on their and so high up. You don't have to reply I won't be.
