summer in New York City

| | comments (2)

It used to be wild vacillations in temperature as you went from the steamy sidewalks to buildings chilled like they were keeping sides of beef in them. You always had to carry a sweater around with you, because you needed to be nearly naked outside, but you'd freeze the minute you walked indoors, every place was so overly air-conditioned.

Not this summer. For the first time I can remember, I'm bitching about how hot it is inside everywhere, instead of how cold it is. Seems like every place has raised the temp on the AC to save on energy.

I think I'd rather be carrying a sweater around with me.

I agree. I had a fleece my bag during the Dark Knight on Saturday. I'm usually freezing in movie theaters, but not this time.
Yeah, even movie theaters are cutting down on the AC, and the AC is, I suspected, part of the draw of the multiplex in the summer, to get out of the heat.
