Friday dogblogging: not my dog Skip

| | comments (3)

I’ve been dogsitting Skip this week: his people are away and so I’ve been looking after him to save him the horror and indignity of the kennel. He’s a sweet dog, but a bit neurotic -- thunderstorms freak him out, and we’ve had a few this week -- so I’ve had him at my place quite a bit (as opposed to just leaving him in his empty house and visiting him for walkies and food and such). He stayed every other night at my apartment, too, curled up on my bed with me. I’d have kept him here the whole week his people were gone, if not for the cats, who were Not Pleased with having this creature on the premises. Sam pretty much ignored Skip, but Cassie hid under the bed at first. After a few days of this, she clearly said to herself, “Hey! This is my house.” And then she stalked purposefully around in front of Skip, hissing at him as called for.

Skip certainly doesn't seem camera shy. I can practically see him him thinking "Hey, is this gonna be on tv? Or at least Youtube? Will I get to meet the Petco mascot...cause he'd make a great chew toy!" Even though I'm a cat person, give Skip a hug for me,
I've always been a "Dogs and cats... living together!" person. Skip looks like a great dog! How's Sam doing? When I read your last post about him, I feared for the worst, but it sounds like he's doing a little better now?
Sam is better. He seems to have recovered from his UTI. But it made me wonder what the hell I was thinking, adopting an elderly cat. Do I need this kind of heartbreak? Honestly, I don't.
