Harry Potter date rape?

| | comments (3)

Oh, so wrong on so many levels, yet hilarious, too:

J.K. Rowling Hints At Harry Potter Date Rape

(Note: Deeming this "hilarious" does not, of course, constitute any kind of endorsement of rape of any kind, but instead brings it to the hoopla surrounding the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and yet should not be interpreted to mean that the blogger will not be at a Borders at midnight on July 21 in order to get her grubby geeky fingers on a copy as soon as is humanly or Muggly possible.)

I just started working part-time at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago, and the first thing I said at my orientation was "Can I work Harry Potter Night?" Partially for the fun of seeing the kids all dressed up, as well as dressing up myself (which I wouldn't do unless I was working, and I'm going to go as Sybil Trelawney--lots of scarves!), but mostly because this way I can get paid for being there and still buy my book before leaving for the evening. And, I get Saturday off since I'll be there past 2:30 in the morning, and thus can get the book read the next day!
I plan on doing nothing that weekend but reading the book, and then reporting on it here on Monday morning.
Kathy, you do realize you're probably going to see more adults dressed up than children? Also, regarding endorsing rape/rape humor, I'll refer you to George Carlin.
