it’s official: Tobey Maguire is not a geek

It’s true. Bruce Campbell says so:

“The funny thing about that is that on the first ‘Spider-Man,’ I met Tobey Maguire,” recalled Campbell. “And he was like, ‘Okay, yeah, you’re a friend of Sam’s.’ Then I showed up for the second one, and he’s like, ‘Why are you back again? And you’re playing a different character. Why are you here?’ And he didn’t really get it. And then on the third one, he saw me and was, ‘Okay, you’re never going to go away. I see.’ So he finally made peace with it.”

Sorry, Tobey, but you’re out of my boyfriend harem.

Bruce has a permanent seat, of course.

As you lose a pretend boyfriend, I gain a pretend girlfriend: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/movies/2007/05/06/2007-05-06_web_following.html Turns out Mageina Tovah, Peter's landlord's daughter, *is* a geek!

i swear u guys are really dopes Tobey's a human being and his actually like the best actor ever u dweeb. Teh Internets r k001!!!!!1! ;-) For Tobey Maguire to not know that Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi go waaaaaay back shows that he just hasn't been paying attention. Definitely not a geek.
I can't help but find it funny that my middle brother has no trouble referring to Kristen Dunst by name but refers to Tobey Maguire as "the guy who was in 'Spiderman'." And I suspect that there are a lot of movie-goers (not here, of course) who do the same thing. Now whether my brother knows Bruce Campbell by name is unfortunately a different story. I'm sure he recognizes his face from "Xena" and "Hercules" but I'm not sure I've ever heard him refer to Campbell by name. I suspect he's still in HITG (Hey, It's That Guy) status as far as my brother is concerned.
