Friday catblogging: Sam gets shaved!

| | comments (2)

Cassie checks out Sam in his carrier, on his way to the groomer. Perhaps she’s wondering whether she’s about to be an only cat again.

Cassie did seem rather perplexed when I came home without Sam -- he stayed at the groomer’s for most of the day. And here he is in all his newly shorn glory:

He doesn’t quite look like half the cat he was, but maybe 80 percent of the cat he was.

The scariest thing about this experience? The groomer, who used to take care of Sam when he was with his previous owner, said that since the last time he saw Sam in 2003 (which is maybe two years before Sam came to live with me), he’s lost a lot of weight. It’s hard to imagine how Sam could be much bigger than he is...

He looks very handsome! It's nice that the groomer didn't take him down to a crewcut (or bodycut) and left him some dignity. I've known cats that have hidden when clipped really short -- then again, I don't know if Sam would bother going to the effort of hiding, mortified or not.
Hiding might be too much work for Sam. But he certainly knows how to express his indignation, usually vocally. :->
