In honor of GenXer Clive Owen’s brilliant performance in the must-see Children of Men -- as well as his ascension to Current Boyfriend on my Bias Meter -- here’s the full range of his characters: his cool and clever driver in the short films of the Hire series; his felon with the heart of a gardener in Greenfingers; and his cluelessly deluded writer in Croupier.

I first saw Clive Owen on Masterpiece Theatre back in 1990/1 in a production called Precious Bane. He was the at-first loving, soon embittered farmer Gideon Sarn, brother of Janet McTeer's Prue Sarn, and a real nasty piece of work by the end of the film. I wish this movie would be released on video/DVD--as far as I know, it's never even been available in the UK, let alone over here.
