geek/dork/nerd: after-the-apocalypse edition

| | comments (2)

Anyone else watching Jericho? I’m finding myself getting hooked in spite of myself, mostly because I have my suspicions about where the show might be going. (I’m gonna write about this soon at my new gig at Film.com, so stay tuned there.) Also, Skeet Ulrich is growing on me, out of sheer regular exposure; he might be the made-for-TV Johnny Depp, but I’ll take ersatz Johnny Depps wherever I can find them. So anyway, herewith dudes of the apocalypse: Stu Redman; Skeet’s Jericho character, whose name I can’t even remember; and Mad Max.

I was all prepared to mock Jericho, but instead I've found myself enjoying it greatly - to the point that it's my second favorite new show (Heroes being numero uno, natch). Having said that, however, Token Black Man was never going to be a good thing, dontcha think?
Being a huge Fallout and Fallout 2 fan (A post apocolyptic computer game), I was drawn to Jericho because of it's premise. I've taken a liking to the show deffinately. I have a lot of questions though - who is the mysterious ex-cop dude, and why does he seem to be so connected? What did Mr. Ulrich's character do while he was away from the town? It's cheezy in parts, but overall I don't think it's half-bad (In agreement with the above commenter though - Hero's is super - pun intended.)
