Star Wars: The TV Series

Compare...

The TV series spin-off of the Stars Wars film franchise will run to at least 100 episodes, according to producer Rick McCallum.

...

The series will be set between episodes three and four of the film saga.

It would cover the 20 years in the life of Luke Skywalker growing up that remains a mystery to most film-goers.

...and contrast...

LUKE: It just isn't fair. Oh, Biggs is right. I'm never gonna get out of here!

THREEPIO: Is there anything I might do to help?

LUKE: Well, not unless you can alter time, speed up the harvest, or teleport me off this rock.

THREEPIO: I don't think so, sir. I'm only a droid and not very knowledgeable about such things. Not on this planet, anyways. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure which planet I'm on.

LUKE: Well, if there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from.

Looks like we’re all going nowhere:

So we're going to be treated to 100 episodes of Luke learning how to moisture farm?
I don't know why this is getting reported like this all over the net, but it is incorrect. The show does take place in that time frame, but will not have anything to do with Luke. Rick McCallum was quoted on empireonline.com as saying "It takes place between Episodes III and IV. It’s going to be all-new characters, maybe a few bounty hunters in there to start the series off." The complete article is here: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=18269
Yeah, I agree, Gail. Saying "It would cover the 20 years in the life of Luke Skywalker growing up..." isn't the same as saying it's *about* Luke Skywalker.
Oh, I dunno. I'd kind of like to know what moisture-farming was all about (maybe not 100 episodes devoted to it, though...). Considering what Tatooine looks like, I was sure that it wasn't so much moisture-farming as dirt-farming. A lot of dirt-farming. (And I always thought a great hall costume would be one for the Future Farmers of Tatooine, Tosche Station; I still have a sketch of the logo somewhere.)
