What is this "tape" you talk of? A properly-configured TiVo would pick up the reruns even if it was powered off during the original broadcast.

Have you ever considered downloading a copy? I don't see how that would be any different than having a friend tape it and loan it to you.

But they're only rerun at 11PM Fridays, right? My TiVo would fail in such circumstances too, if I wasn't around to turn stuff back on. Actually, come to think of it, with me it's not the TiVo so much as the cable box. When the power goes out and comes back on, it tends to go into some sort of "standby" mode that might as well be "off." So sometimes I'll find that my TiVo faithfully recorded several hours of nothing.
