heh why the hell is doc brown a nerd? - he's a geek - only a geek could put a time machine in a delorean
Yeah, I don't think Doc Brown is a nerd... but John DeLorean might be. One of the more amusing, but generally unrealized, "film flubs" is that all that stainless steel made the car heavy (though according to this article, not quite as outrageously heavy as I'd thought), with an underpowered engine. The real car wouldn't have met Doc Brown's performance criteria: "Road & Track’s authoritative road test showed that the top speed was a mere 109mph... and that 0-100mph needed no less than 40sec and a lot of straight highway." http://www.lotusespritworld.co.uk/EHistory/DeLorean.html Adding a flux capacitor undoubtedly would have hurt the DeLorean's performance even more, perhaps making that 88 mph target speed impossible....
Doc Brown is a nerd because he doesn't *know* he was a geek -- he has no self-awareness of his geekiness.
