Friday catblogging: Sammy

| | comments (4)

Sambig

I really worry about poor Sam. He’s so big it can’t be healthy for him, and yet he while he certainly likes his food, he doesn’t seem to eat all that much -- he just doesn’t move to burn it off. He also has this weird thing with his front paws -- his previous owner had him declawed, which I would never do, and he walks funny, which I’m not sure is a result of his weight or the declawing or a combination of the two... or maybe it’s completely unrelated. But he won’t let me look at his feet: he pulls away whenever I try to touch him there.

As if I don’t have enough to worry about, this cat’s health is always on my mind. Cuz he’s so sweet and so full of personality, and he deserves to have a long, healthy life.

Gosh, I love Friday catblogging (even when there are dogs)! The declawing and Sammy's funny walk might be related. Declawing involves the removal of the cat's toes up to the first joint or "knuckle"; that might not mean much if you consider your hands (other than it would result in short, stubby fingers), but looking at my toes, there might be a real issue there. I've heard that if an old bipedal human type loses a big toe, balance and walking is seriously compromised. What a great blobbo of a cat. Sammy might be chunky, but at least you can hug him without fear of hurting him!
What a cutie! Looks like a centerfold. Wish I could be that overweight and still be that cute. Poor baby. We've got a couple of "round" ones too. In fact I blogged one of them this week. It's really hard to take the weight off them. I would also never declaw a cat ever again.
Blueberry, your cats are hilarious. Then again, most cats are hilarious, aren't they? Totally unrelated: I see from your blog that you're in Austin and you're a music fan. Tell me you love the Austin Lounge Lizards....
Of course! I've even snagged some lyrics a couple of times in my blog (credited), and to top it off, I have a calendar for 2006 where they appear naked(http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2005-09-23/music_feature.html), well, everybody in it does. It's a hoot. Speaking of centerfolds...
