Geek/Dork/Nerd: you-call-this-archaeology edition

Gdnindy

"What kind of an archaeologist carries a gun?" Col. Jack O’Neil asked scornfully.

"Um," Daniel Jackson offered, raising his hand tentatively, "I do."

(For those of you playing along at home, that’s an exchange from Stargate SG-1.)

YESSS! As someone who wrote a Stargate novel for Britain ... bless you. Let me know if you want a totally free copy ... Oh, I forgot, the Brit pen name is "Julie Fortune." -- Rachel
You wrote a *Stargate* novel? I'm SO jealous. I'd love a copy -- I really liked the first Weather Warden novel, which you sent me. There's so little geniunely contemporary fantasy, and your stuff is fantastic. Rachel's book *Ill Wind*: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0451459520/theflickfilosoph
Adverbs are evil, lazy, and wrong. Scornfully and tentatively, indeed. ;-)
Rachel, I loved the article on SG-1 fashion you wrote for *Stepping Through the Stargate*! I agree, Ba'al has to be the all-time best-dressed Goa'uld....
Ba'al is SO hot...
--This is my favorite! "He speaks a dozen languages, knows every local custom... He'll disappear, you'll never find him, and with any luck..." He's got the grail already. You gotta love Marcus because he's so earnest. He's the wonk that put in his time and now deserves our respect. Never mind that he got lost in his own museum once... I'm deficient in Stargate series know-how, but from what I recall from the movie, Snake Plissken bosses Joker around instead of trusting his egyptology expertise, so the Sgate-commando team gets blasted outta the sand by youthful Ra's or Osiris' stealth hang-glider guys. Isn't the guy who was Twin Peak's Bobby's USAF alien-abducted pop back in SG as another hi-ranking military guy? I'm bad at the SG series, but I do know that something evil lies under the sand in Hamenaptra. If that seems confusing, just remember that J is an I in the roman alphabet. Dr. Jones...
Hey, I've been meaning to get the Weather Warden books for ages now! I really Can't. Wait. for the new Stargate season to start here in the UK...Ben Browder! Claudia Black! Scorpy! Oh. Right. Still, Ben Browder! Claudia Black! Woot!
"I'm deficient in Stargate series know-how, but from what I recall from the movie," Forget what you know from the movie. It's nothing but a jumping-off point for the show, which is infinitely superior to its source material.
I always had the impression that Marcus Brody had better people skills than Henry Jones Sr.. Does that make him a nerd? And where do Evie and Rick O'Connell--you know, from that other archeology movie about Egypt--fit on your scale?
God I'm not sure what it says about me that to this day seeing Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones sets my heart aflitter (he was my first movie crush, at the tender age of 5). (well duh, I guess it says I'm a Geek. :^)
